The Triumvirate Team Challenge (TTC) is a Warhammer 40k event like no other, where players form teams of three, one representing the Imperium, one representing Chaos and one representing Xenos! With a unique twist in that during the pairings exercise, not only do teams determine which player is paired into who, but also what mission, deployment and terrain layout is used for the match! List submission is due one week prior (Friday January 31st at midnight)
Lists will be made public Saturday 1st of February, any late lists that cause delays will attract heavy penalties.
Each player in the team must select their faction from a different column as listed below. Each faction can only be selected once, and each column must be taken once.
Armies are to be no more than 2000 points and are to follow all Matched Play rules and restrictions.
Each team will be given 3 tokens, one Imperium, one Chaos and one Xenos, these are the equivalent of pairing cards you may be familiar with from other team events and represent the corresponding players of those factions.
Step One – The Defender
Both teams simultaneously put forward one token face down, this is their defender. The other two tokens remain in their hand and are also face down (or otherwise obscured from the opponent’s view). Once both teams have selected their defender, both tokens are revealed simultaneously.
Step Two – The Attacker
Both teams simultaneously put forward one token face down in front of the opposing team’s defender, this is their attacker. The final token remains in their hand and is also face down (or otherwise obscured from the opponent’s view). Once both teams have selected their attacker, the attackers are paired off into the defenders
Step Three – The Scrappers
Both teams will now be left with a single token in their hand, these two players are automatically paired and are known as the scrappers.
Once pairings are completed, captains roll off, whoever rolls the highest can choose to either select the first table for their defender OR allow the opposing captain to select the first table for their defender, once this first selection is made the other captain can select tables for both their defender and scrapper.
Each table will have a different Primary Mission, Deployment and Mission Special Rules as per below, so choose wisely!
Defenders will always get to choose their table and mission, however, will be vulnerable to being attacked by a faction with a list advantage.
Attackers will get to have some control over which opponent they play against but will have no agency over their mission or table.
Scrappers will get the leftover table and leftover opponents and will have to be the most flexible.
The Triumvirate Team Challenge serves double as a Team Building exercise, tournament, social event and a fundraiser for Team Victoria for the ANZTC.
